Leonard Piha

Leonard Nace Piha was born in Seattle to Sephardic parents. Three of his grandparents were from Rhodes, while his maternal grandmother was from Istanbul. His paternal great-grandfather lived in both countries, maintaining a farm in Bodrum, Turkey, and renting a house in Rhodes from his cousins, directly behind the Grand Synagogue.
Leonard grew up in Seattle's Central District and in southeast Seattle and graduated from Franklin High School. He worked in the restaurant industry for many years before going back to school to get an electrical degree, and he worked for Seattle City Light for more than 30 years.
Leonard's passions include beach-combing, gardening, and cooking. He also enjoys traveling to other countries with his wife and two children.

His strongest tie to his Sephardic background is through food--his favorite being borekas!
