Rebecca Buxbaum

Rebecca grew up in South Seattle where she was a member of Sephardic Bikur Cholim congregation. Her Paternal grandparents, Albert and Becky Moshcatel, were founding members of the synagogue. Her maternal grandparents, Morris and Regina Sadis, were founding members of Ezra Bessaroth - with both sides of her family coming from Rhodes and Tekirdag, she was deeply influenced by all of the Sephardic culture from both families. As she grew older, Rebecca became very interested in carrying on the traditions of her family and hosts many of the holidays, where she has become a very proficient Sephardic baker, or as many would say, she has “Bendichos Manos.” She is dedicated to teaching all who want to learn to bake these Sephardic delicacies and during the pandemic taught several virtual classes for Temple De Hirsch Sinai, where she and her husband Jay are currently members. Rebecca’s other interests are tennis, being outdoors, and traveling.
